Kyabgon Phakchock Rinpoche, the supreme head of the Tibetan Taklung Kagyu Buddhist lineage, will conduct the first known pet blessing in Vancouver by a Buddhist lama.

According to Buddhist thought, blessing animals can help reduce the hardships they may face in their lives, and lead to a positive rebirth.

Pet owners are urged to reserve a spot online.  For the safety of all participants, dogs must be leashed and well-behaved and small animals must be in a carrier or otherwise contained.  If the pet cannot attend the ceremony, owners can bring a photo for blessing. A portion of the suggested $20 donation will be used to help dogs-in-need in Kathmandu, Nepal.
